Texas Instruments grew second-quarter revenue 23% as Analog demand recovered, while capacity expansion kept manufacturing costs elevated.
signal:TXN:2026-09-18 Texas Instruments (TXN) Q2 2026: Analog Demand Lifted Revenue and Profit
Texas Instruments’ second-quarter filing shows a broad earnings recovery led by Analog demand. The central question is whether that demand strength persists while the company continues its planned manufacturing-capacity expansion.
Demand recovery improved results
Revenue increased 23% to $5.46 billion from $4.45 billion. Analog revenue rose 26% to $4.37 billion, while Embedded Processing revenue increased 16% to $788 million.
Gross margin improved to 61.4% from 57.9%, although higher manufacturing costs associated with capacity expansion partly offset the benefit of higher revenue. Operating profit rose to $2.31 billion from $1.56 billion.
GAAP net income was $1.98 billion, or $2.14 per share, compared with $1.30 billion and $1.41. First-half operating cash flow reached $4.22 billion and included a $301 million cash benefit from the CHIPS Act investment tax credit.
Recovery versus capacity cost
The quarter contains two different signals. Higher Analog and Embedded Processing revenue indicates a cyclical demand recovery, while the capacity program keeps fixed manufacturing costs and capital requirements elevated. Better factory utilization can improve margins as revenue recovers, but that outcome is not guaranteed merely because sales increased for one quarter. The next filing should be read for utilization, inventory and cash generation together, with the CHIPS Act cash benefit kept separate from recurring operating cash flow. It also separates cyclical recovery from improvement produced mainly by temporary tax support.
What matters next
- Analog and Embedded Processing demand through the semiconductor cycle.
- Factory utilization and manufacturing costs as new capacity ramps.
- Inventory, which remained $4.61 billion despite improved days of inventory.
- Capital spending and the planned Silicon Labs acquisition.
